Doors closed. GENERAL INFO Chaos Constructions 2009 demo party (#CC9 on twitter) is going to take place on 29 and 30 of August. Partyplace is in exhibition hall of Eurasia, St.Petersburg, Russia. Approximately 5 minutes by walk from subway stations Lesnaya. Following competitions and platformes will be present: Combined: Demo, 64k Intro, 4k Intro, 32k EXE Music, Game, 4k Procedural Graphics, Tiny MP3 Music, GFX: Icons Graphics, Rendered, Handdrawn, Freestyle, Photo; 8 bit: 640kb demo, 4kb Intro, 512b Intro. Additionaly, for ZX Spectrum only: Graphics, AY-music; Mobile/Handheld: 1mb Demo; Misc: Wild, JavaFX Demo, HackVideo; In case of small number of entries, there's a possibility of combining certain nominations together. To enter any competiton you will need to register your entry before 28th of August (see "Registration"). Please note, that it is possible to enter into competitions without being physically present on party place. Cost of the ticket for 2 days of demoparty - 400 roubles (about 10 EUR). Free tickets are available for girls. CONSUMPTION OF ANY ALCOHOLIC DRINKS AT PARTYPLACE IS PROHIBITED. INTOXICATED PEOPLE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER PARTYPLACE. ALL DAMAGES INCURRED DURING PARTY WILL BE COMPENSATED BY THOSE WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE. IN CASE OF INABILITY TO RETRIEVE THE MONEY OR FIND RESPONSIBLES MONEY WILL BE SUBTRACTED FROM PRIZE FUND. IF VISITOR IS REMOVED BY SECURITY FROM PARTYPLACE, THERE WILL BE NO REFUND. COMPETITION RULES - All entries participating in a compo must be previously unreleased. - Entries previously submitted to other competitions of parties are not allowed. - If your entry contains somebody elses work, you must have rights to use it. - There will be preselection for all competitions by competent jury made of organizers and experts. - Winners will be awarded. Prize fund is dependent of number of visitors and sponsors. - All presented entries from competitions will be distributed by organizers of the demoparty via WWW/FTP/CD/DVD. Combined compos * 16mb Demo - Size of demo must be less or equal 16mb. - Demo cannot contain animation only. - Hardware acceleration is allowed (DirectX/OpenGL). - Maximum runtime of one entry - 10 minutes. - Maximum 2 entries from one author. * 64k Intro - Size of intro must be less or equal 64kb. - Hardware acceleration is allowed (DirectX/OpenGL). - Maximum runtime of one entry - 5 minutes. - Only 10 entries will be selected. * 4k Intro - Size of intro must be less or equal 4kb. - Hardware acceleration is allowed (DirectX/OpenGL). - Maximum runtime of one entry - 3 minutes. - Only 10 entries will be selected. * 32k exe music - Executable music - Size of music must be less or equal 32kb. - Hardware acceleration is allowed (DirectX/OpenGL). - Maximum runtime of one entry - 3 minutes. - Only 10 entries will be selected. * 4k procedural graphics - Static image as an executable - Size of exe must be less or equal 4kb. - Hardware acceleration is allowed (DirectX/OpenGL). - Maximum runtime of one entry - 3 minutes. - Only 10 entries will be selected. PC demo/intro must work under Windows XP SP2 or Linux. If entry is written for Linux, please notify us in advance and specify EXACT specifications of the system. PC entries must have an option to output visuals in one of the following resolutions: 1024x768, 800x600, 640x480. Amiga demo/intro must work on 040+ or Pegasos machines. You can utilise graphics support through CGX or WARP3D. Entries for PPC are also allowed. Pegasos demo/intro must work on MorphOS 1.4.2 in either 800x600 or 640x480 resolution. Demo/intro must be interruptable: on Amiga - LMB or RMB; on PC - ESC. * Graphics (Rendered) - Graphics created with rendering software (Lightwave, 3dmax, Cinema, etc). - Maximum resolution 800x600x24bit. - Acceptable graphic formats: JPEG, TIFF, GIF, IFF, PNG, HAM. - You must provide screenshots in different stages of creation (see below). - Competition entry cannot contain any authors identification. - Files in archive must be named in following way: name_xxx.jpg - stages during creation name_wire.jpg - wireframe view of scene name_unsig.jpg - unsigned version name_sig.jpg - signed version - Only 20 entries. * Graphics (Handdrawn) - Graphics created manually on computer. - Scans or copies are not allowed. - Maximum resolution 800x600x24bit. - Acceptable graphic formats: JPEG, TIFF, GIF, IFF, PNG, HAM. - You must provide screenshots in different stages of creation (see below). - Competition entry cannot contain any authors identification. - File structure of archive has to be the same as Rendered Graphics excluding name_wire. - Only 20 entries. * Graphics (Freestyle) - Accepting entries that are done using any methods or techniques or combination of them (Photoshop, rendered, photograph, collage, hand drawn and so on). - Scanned copies are not allowed. - Maximum resolution 800x600x24bit. - Acceptable graphic formats: JPEG, TIFF, GIF, IFF, PNG, HAM. - You must provide screenshots in different stages of creation (see below). - Competition entry cannot contain any authors identification. - File structure of archive has to be the same as Rendered Graphics excluding name_wire. - Only 20 entries. * Tiny MP3 Music - Music created with various instruments, hardware and software. Only original entries (no remixes). - Only original entries. No vocals. - OGG is allowed. - 192kbps only. No VBR. - ID_TAG must be filled in. - Will be played for 15 seconds only. - Only 20 entries. Note: entries written solely in programs such as Dance Machine, E-Jay and so on won't be accepted. 8-bit compos Competitions will take place on machines with 8bit CPUs (or less :) - old computers, calculators and other devices. Only exception from this rule is russian computer BK. Organizers will only provide ZX Spectrum (see "Compo machines"). Other computers, devices and extentions you have to bring to the party. If device does not have standard audio/video output, image will be taken from the display using digital camera. * 1kb Intro - Maximum runtime - 1 minute. - 1 entry from author, 2 entries from group. - Only 15 entries. * 640k Demo - Size of demo must be less or equal 640kb. - Maximum runtime - 10 minutes. - Only 1 entry from group. - Only 15 entries. NOTES AND ADDITIONAL COMPETITIONS FOR ZX SPECTRUM You are free to use any additional devices or extensions as long as you provide them at the party for demonstration (and if these devices don't contain processors higher than 8-bit). * ZX Spectrum 1kb Intro - All intros will be launched from "BestView" without Basic-loader. Do not forget to set correct attributes for screen, border and stack pointers in intro. - If you are using ROM (routines or data) make sure you are compatible with standard Pentagon 128k. - Return to Basic after completion. - Provide Basic-loader for distribution after the party. * ZX Spectrum 640k Demo - DD discette, that you can copy and convert to TRD format. - If your demo is using non standard disk format or specific order of sectors, please notify organizers about it in advance and provide all necessary utilities that allow creation of working disk for demonstration at the party. * ZX Spectrum Graphics - Standard screen 6912/6144 bytes, gigascreen. - One entry from author. - Only 30 entries. - Entry must be original. - Competition entry cannot contain any authors identification. (Release version can contain logos). - You must provide screenshots in different stages of creation. - Only handdrawn graphics is accepted, ie drawn on/for spectrum. Preselection is done manually, to resolve any conflicts make sure you have "in progress" versions of your picture to prove authenticity. - Pictures of erotic/pornographic nature will be disqualified. * ZX Spectrum AY-Music - Entry must be original. - Compiled at #C000. - Attention, entry has to play correctly from "BestView" or from supplied in advance player. - Module must have ending (not looped). - During preselection remixes will be thrown out first. - Original compositions will have preference. - In case of limited time, duration of music entries might be reduced (but will not be less than 2 minutes each). - 3 minutes maximum. - 1 entry from author. - Only 10 entries. - Music will be played on AY-3-8910, in ABC stereo. Mobile/Handheld competitions Entries for following devices can participate - PocketPC, Psion, Newton, Palm/CLIE, GameBoy Colour / Advanced, mobile phones and so on except notebooks. Everybody brings their own device - picture will taken from the screen using digital videocamera. * 4mb Demo - Size of demo must be less or equal 4mb. - Demo cannot contain animation only. - Maximum runtime of one entry - 10 minutes. - One entry from group. - Only 15 entries. Misc competitions * Wild demo - You can submit any entry you like in this competition, as long as it is interesting: video and demo on non-standard equipment, anything else (contact organizers). - If it is video, see animation compo rules. - Maximum runtime of one entry - 5 minutes. - Only 10 entries. COMPO MACHINES Organizers are providing following compo machines: PC: Intel P4/3Ghz, 2Gb RAM, video card compatible with OpenGL 3.1, DirectX (last version released by Microsoft at the time), Shader model 4.0. It is possible to use .NET Framework 1.1/2.0 Amiga: 1200 or 4000, 060@60+PowerPC@233, 128 mb, B-Vision/C-Vision, AmigaOS 3.1/3.9/4.0 ZX Spectrum: Standard Pentagon 128k without extensions (for 8bit compos). If entries are developed for different hardware (and satisfy competition requirements) it will be necessary to bring all necessary devices with you. Please notify organizers about equipment you'll bring to solve most of possible technical problems before the party. VOTING Winners in each competition are determined based on visitor's voting via partymeister software. Winner of the demoparty is determined by jury and selected from winners of competitions. Jury is formed from organizers and invited experts. REGISTRATION AND ENTRY SUBMISSION It is possible to compete in competitions without coming to party place. Remote participation is allowed. It is necessary to register your entry via party meister system if you plan to participate in competitions. Entries for devices and computers that participants are bringing with them to the party can be submitted (with the devices) before beginning of first day of party. Registration and acceptance of other entries will be finished at the specified deadline during demoparty. You can also send your entry via e-mail to entry@cc.org.ru (except videofiles).
